WITH the October general elections on the horizon, CCM Youth Wing (UVCCM) has unveiled an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot designed to improve access to the party’s key policies and promises.

The new digital platform, named Kijani Ilani Chatbot, was launched on Monday in Dar es Salaam, attracting thousands of young party members and supporters from across the country gathered for the occasion.

Speaking at the launch, UVCCM national chairperson, Mohammed Ali Kawaida, encouraged Tanzanians, especially the youth, to engage with the chatbot as a reliable source of information.

He said the chatbot has been specifically programmed to instantly provide information on CCM’s 2025–2030 election manifesto, the national Vision 2050 and a range of development pledges. The goal is to empower citizens, especially young voters, with accurate, easy-to-understand information in real time.

“The tool shows young Tanzanians and the wider public what CCM has promised in its manifesto, and how those commitments are being implemented across the country,” he said.

“The system aims to provide Tanzanians with instant, accessible information about the CCM manifesto and its implementation ahead of the country’s General Election scheduled for October. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to counter misinformation and ensure citizens can make informed political decisions,” he said.

Kawaida emphasized the importance of using technology to combat misinformation and strengthen civic engagement, urging young people to rely on the chatbot for reliable political information instead of being misled by unverified content on social media.

Khalid Mwinyi, UVCCM secretary general, described the initiative as a major step forward in digital political communication.

“It allows real-time interaction where users can ask questions and get quick, accurate responses. This is about making politics more transparent and ensuring young people see themselves as central to governance and national development,” he said.

The launch event also included a moment of appreciation for outgoing secretary Jokate Mwegelo, with Kawaida thanking her for her service to the youth wing and wishing her well in her continued contributions to the party and the country.
